Crime Si Poa ended the year on a high note as the Stanbic Foundation made a surprise pre-Christmas visit to our head office and donated 15 desktop computers to support our community based Digital Livelihoods Program. The handover ceremony was a momentous occasion that signaled a strengthened partnership between the two organizations.
Leading the Stanbic delegation, Mr. Charles Okoth, Stanbic Bank Senior Manager for the Central Business District Branch, highlighted the immense impact Crime Si Poa has made in the communities it serves since the first donation of computers made by the bank to the organization 5 years ago.
“This partnership cements our shared commitment to transformation,” he said, as he praised the impactful work CSP does in crime prevention and youth empowerment.
He was accompanied by two Stanbic Foundation members, Ms. Faith Mwaura and Ms. Victoria Mwanzia, who echoed his sentiments. Ms. Mwaura noted the Foundation’s focus on education and digital literacy in an increasingly digital world. “We are excited to support both community and prison programs to ensure the communities you serve become digitally enabled,” she remarked.
Ms. Mwanzia applauded Crime Si Poa’s transformative programs and pledged further support from the foundation. “The impact you are making is incredible, and we are committed to walking this journey with you,” she added.
Receiving the donation on behalf of Crime Si Poa, Director of Operations and General Counsel Ms. Sylvia Morwabe expressed deep gratitude to the Stanbic Foundation and the bank for their continued support. “This generous contribution will undoubtedly enhance our capacity to serve more youth in the communities we work in as we address pressing societal challenges,” she said.
Ms. Morwabe highlighted previous support from the foundation, which helped equip Crime Si Poa’s digital livelihood skills training hub in Kajiado County. The center has to date trained, empowered and graduated 162 youths, the majority of whom join the job market with requisite technical and soft skills to thrive. “The impact is undeniable,” she emphasized.
“Crime Si Poa’s mission of empowering youth as proactive change-makers and proximate community leaders aims to steer them away from crime and toward productive futures.” Said Ms. Morwabe.
